This scheme of work was originally developed for students to bring drawing and recording skills up to a high standard.
The lessons are organized into 6 distinct activities, each focusing on observational drawing and emphasizing a different skill or formal element. There are links to artists for each lesson and the powerpoint slides are designed to be printed and laminated as a resource for students during the lessons.
Students look at shape, tone, form, perspective, reflection, mark-making… using ink, biro, fineliners, pencil… Discussion points are included and key vocabulary. Students seem to really enjoy the focused nature of these sessions, and I have often found that they are concentrating so hard that they end up in silence!
Optional homework/independent study tasks are listed at the end to go along with this scheme.
