Students create beautiful watercolour heart paintings. Inspired by the environmentally aware art of Olafur Eliasson. The lesson is a great one-off activity and can to link to Earth Day or Valentine’s Day.
The four-page handout starts by introducing the artist. Then it gives full instructions for exploring watercolour painting techniques. Students are encouraged to annotate their work. Finally, there is a wordsearch included to recap key vocabulary.
Also included are further research ideas. Great for a follow-up homework or continuing the project.
This lesson is simple and effective. These is lots of opportunity for discussion too.
Materials needed are:
- thick paper
- paper towels
- watercolour paints
- brushes
In addition salt, ice and wax crayons are optional to extend the experimentation with painting techniques.
